Russian scientists in the Moscow region are working to create a unique vaccine that will help stop smoking. Specialists from the research nano laboratory, which is located in Khimki, have already conducted the first phase of clinical trials, which was quite successful. Now scientists are entering the second phase of research, which is to test the effectiveness of the vaccine, its clinical significance, as well as in carrying out allergic tests. Russian scientists plan that in five years the vaccine may appear on sale.
Researchers hope that their invention will make a real breakthrough in the field of tobacco control. With the help of such a vaccine, the process of abandoning a bad habit will be quite easy and without significant harm to health. The principle of the vaccine against smoking is similar to any other vaccine - the human body, after the introduction of the drug begins to actively develop antibodies that bind nicotine in the blood, thereby preventing it from entering the brain. As a result, nicotine can not get into a specific area of the brain responsible for pleasure, and a person ceases to enjoy the smoked cigarette. The vaccine is a kind of molecular container that will deliver the active substance of the drug to the body cells that trigger the immune response.
Earlier, the development of this vaccine was conducted in the United States, but Russia received a grant from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and as a result, all the developments were moved to the suburbs.
In the modern world, the fight against smoking is defined as an important social task in almost every country in the world. The problems of smoking affect not only the public, but also the government. Now the fight against smoking in almost all countries of the world is being carried out in one form or another. Ways to combat smoking are diverse: eliminating "passive" smoking, preventing smoking, reducing the harmful properties of tobacco, encouraging quitting and helping with treatment. The main form of quitting smoking is the promotion of the harm of smoking from a medical point of view, since smoking is seen as an action that a person can consciously control.
Earlier, Swedish experts proved that smoking causes changes in the body, increasing the risk of cancer, diabetes, in addition, a bad habit affects badly the genes that are responsible for the immunity and quality of sperm. Scientists believe that human genes undergo changes in the course of time, under the influence of various external factors, but most of all gene mutations are affected by smokers. Scientists believe that mutations of genes cause substances that are formed during the burning of cigarettes and enter the body by inhalation. In all volunteer smokers, specialists identified many damaged and mutated genes. Scientists from Sweden suggest that their research will help smokers think about the dangers of smoking and thereby prevent the development of many serious diseases.
