A group of researchers at a university in Ohio came to the conclusion that a lowered level of glucose in the blood leads to anger and irritation. In the course of their research project, the researchers carried out an analysis of the relationship of more than one hundred couples who, at the beginning of the study, had to answer several questions, including the relationship in the family. Then the scientists controlled the blood sugar level of the participants of the study for three weeks, and also controlled the degree of irritation of the spouses in relation to the second half.

To find out the level of anger and irritation of the participants, the scientists gave each dolls that personified the second half and suggested, at moments of irritation to the spouse (or spouse) to stick the needle into the doll. As it turned out, those participants in the study, who had low glucose levels, stuck into the dolls twice as many needles as compared to participants who had higher blood glucose levels. Moreover, even the spouses, between whom there were good relationships, had the same results.

Hungry and wicked - so called the state of the people of the research group. Scientists say that such a hungry state, associated with possible aggressive behavior, is often ignored, but this condition can cause serious family conflicts, and sometimes violence in the family.

Based on the findings, experts recommend that you start serious conversations on an empty stomach. You can restore the blood glucose level by eating a chocolate bar or candy. Improving the glucose level of fruits and vegetables is even better.

However, as in any other case, it is important not to overdo it. To reduce the manifestation of conflict situations in the family, it is not necessary to eat lots of sweets and chocolate. Sugar can also be dangerous to health. Recent studies of scientists have shown that high concentrations of sugar in the blood have a poor memory effect (provided that there is no diabetes mellitus).

In their research project, experts studied the health status of more than a hundred volunteers who did not suffer from intolerance to glucose, diabetes, and were not in pre-diabetes. Also scientists excluded people with excess weight, with alcohol dependence and with impaired functions of the brain. The brain condition of the participants in the experiment was assessed using a magnetic resonance imager (MRI). Scientists were able to determine the size of the hippocampus (the area that forms emotions and fixes in memory the information received). Scientists also measured blood sugar levels and conducted various memory tests, for example, participants were asked to repeat the list of words heard 10-15 minutes ago.

As a result, those participants who had a low blood sugar level successfully coped with the tasks. Participants in whom glycated hemoglobin in the blood were within 7 mmol, showed almost twice the worst memory, and the size of the hippocampus was smaller.
