In Norway, experts have examined the health status of adolescents who are keen on computer games or just spend a lot of time in front of the monitor. As it turned out, such low-powered children have weak bones, in contrast to their peers who prefer frequent active outdoor games. Many parents are already accustomed to the fact that children sit for a long time in front of the computer and spend all their free time at home, and not on the street and do not interfere with it.
But experts warn that boys who prefer to spend all their time at computer games have a lower mineral density of bones than their peers who spend a lot of time outdoors playing active games. With age, in adolescents who move little, the probability of developing osteoporosis - a disease that leads to a decrease in bone density and frequent fractures - increases . Similar conclusions were made by Norwegian specialists in the course of their research.
In their study, experts examined the health of about a thousand teenagers (girls and boys), aged 15 to 18 years. Scientists using a special test measured the density and thickness of the bones of all participants in the experiment, as well as studied the lifestyle of adolescents with the help of conversation and questioning.
As a result of the research, specialists came to the conclusion that boys spend much longer at computers, unlike girls, and this infatuation negatively affects their condition of their bone tissue. As a result of the study, the specialists found out that the girls completely differ in their indicators: young girls who spend about six hours at the computer have a denser bone tissue, in contrast to their peers - boys.
Mineral density of bones is directly related to the development of osteoporosis and frequent fractures of bones. The conducted researches indicate that the sedentary lifestyle of young people negatively affects health. The lack of motor activity leads not only to a decrease in body weight, but also affects the condition of the bones. At the same time, experts are interested in the results of the girls and intend to continue their research.
Studies conducted earlier showed that girls, keen on social networks, have a tendency to be dissatisfied with their own kind, which leads to anorexia. More than 200 girls took part in the research project. In the course of the study, scientists studied the degree of enthusiasm for social networks, and how this affects the psyche. In addition, experts wanted to learn how the Internet affects self-esteem. As a result, it turned out that the more a girl spends on social networks, the more she is prone to nervous and nutritional disorders. Reduction of self-esteem is the most widespread phenomenon among supporters of virtual communication. As experts explain it, the reason for the decrease in self-esteem and nervous disorders is the unification of girls into groups of slimming, as well as photos of stars with an ideal figure. In the risk group were girls from 12 to 19 years.
