After much development, British specialists have managed to create a drug that helps patients after chemotherapy. The drug was developed specifically to help the body more easily endure difficult treatment, as well as to promote the restoration of impaired functions.
It is worth noting that as a result of long-term treatment with chemotherapy drugs, the body is exhausted, immunity is suppressed, and damage to blood vessels located close to nerve endings occurs. In chemotherapy, this is the main problem.
The main effect of the new painkiller proposed by British scientists is aimed at reducing the pain that often accompanies a course of chemotherapy. As expected by the specialists, the effect of the drug showed a positive result after the tests. At present, the new drug has already passed the stage of laboratory tests on rodents and now scientists are in the final stage of testing the drug. Scientists hope that this drug can soon be launched into mass production.
The main side effect of chemotherapy was the suppression of the production of leukocytes (white blood cells that help the body fight viruses and infections). Also, after treatment with chemotherapy drugs, the human body becomes almost powerless against most infections that enter the body through the urinary system, intestines, lungs and other mucous membranes. By helping to eliminate pain, the new drug, according to experts, can make treatment more favorable for the body. When comparing the new drug with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the smaller number of side effects comes to the fore. Currently used drugs often cause strokes or heart attacks, so doctors try not to use them to treat patients if possible. The new British drug is more advanced, so the likelihood of developing side effects is lower.
In addition, experts have developed an improved method for treating oncological tumors. The treatment is based on the ability of cancer cells to form metastases. Specialists were able to direct cancer cells in such a way that the treatment process began.
Recently, scientists from Australia reported that tobacco, known for its carcinogenic properties, can help in the treatment of cancer. A detailed study of this plant allowed scientists to identify a molecular substance contained in it that is destructive to cancer cells. The studies showed that tobacco, in addition to its negative impact on the body, also has a positive effect - it destroys the structure of cancer cells from the inside. Also, in the process of more in-depth research, experts found that the molecular substance they identified is capable of selectively affecting pathological cells, which cannot be said about a number of drugs currently used in the treatment of cancer.
