Only three habits play a key role in weight loss and constant weight control, according to a new study. Women who took part in this unique study had to adhere to only three simple rules. And this led to tremendous results. So, women had to do only three things: to keep food diary, not to skip meals, and to avoid fast food, especially at lunch time. The study, conducted by the Cancer Research Center in Seattle, analyzed a variety of eating habits to discover the most suitable.
Scientists were very surprised at the ability to simply maintain a diary, as well as eating at home. The study involved women over 50 years. And they lost an average of 2.5-4 kg more than those who adhered to a more habitual diet. This study emphasizes the importance of strategies for maintaining weight over time, including through self-monitoring (food diary), regular nutrition and a healthy environment (home nutrition). These results doctors have long been observing in clinical practice.
Scientists tracked the habits of 123 women who participated. At the beginning of the study, the average body mass index of participants was 31.3. During the year, they lost an average of 10.7 percent of their body weight. The researchers found that women who led the food diary lost 2.5 kg on average more than those who did not. Those who ate regularly, lost 4 kg more than those who preferred to starve. And, as you know, eating food in a restaurant and at all can lead to a lack of control of calories.
