According to a recent study, the British are considered to be one of the laziest nations, excluding people living in Malta and Serbia. Almost 2/3 of the adult population do not exercise and put their health at risk. Thus, about 63 percent of the adult population of Great Britain do not perform the simplest physical exercises, such as, for example, morning brisk walking or jogging for 30 minutes daily or physical exercise in the gym 3 times a week.

Exercising for less than the recommended limit can increase the risk of developing diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer, doctors warn. The laziness of the British is twice as common as in other countries. However, the palm of victory in this regard still belongs to Malta - 72 percent of the adult population leads a sedentary lifestyle. The most athletic people are considered to be those living in the USA (41 percent lead a sedentary lifestyle), France (33 percent) and Greece (16 percent).

It was noted that in most countries (and those with high income levels) physical activity increases with age, and it is more pronounced in women than in men. Moreover, it was noted that the negative impact of lack of physical activity on the body is comparable to that of smoking and obesity.
