A team of scientists from the McMaster Institute in Ontario (Canada) and the Karolinska Institute (Sweden) came to the conclusion that a combination of aerobic exercise and strength training does not produce any effect. On the contrary, such exercises will reduce the ability of muscles to strengthen, as a result of which muscles do not grow, and the fat layer does not decrease. Until now, the effectiveness of training according to the split system has not been scientifically confirmed. This concept of training involves performing only one type of exercise every day.

The study by Swedish scientists involved healthy and energetic young men and women who regularly go to the gym, but not professionally. At first, the volunteers did 45 minutes of cycling. And then they did squats with weights. On the second day, these same exercises were switched.

Canadian scientists tested the endurance of elderly people. They exercised on cardio machines at a moderate pace for 40 minutes a day. The next day, they did 8 different exercises to strengthen their leg muscles.

Both groups of scientists wanted to see the response to each exercise in the human body. As a result, it was discovered that a combination of aerobic and strength training has a significantly smaller genetic and biomechanical response in muscles, compared to performing either type of exercise alone. However, the scientists noted that the effectiveness of training can be increased if you first exercise on cardio equipment and then perform strength exercises.
