Today, young girls are burdened with significantly more extra pounds than their peers 30-40 years ago. This is due to the fact that they devote only 17 minutes a day to physical activity.

As scientists from the University of Newcastle have found out, modern girls spend no more than 17 minutes a day on various physical activities. For boys, this figure is slightly higher - 24 minutes a day. And we are not talking about visiting a gym or doing physical education, but about walking, cycling, active games, etc.

Meanwhile, the minimum amount of time recommended by scientists that teenagers should spend on physical activity is one hour per day. Experts believe that this recommendation is unrealistic in modern conditions. Today, the life of the younger generation is spent not in walks, but in social networks, which requires a computer or smartphone.

Children lead a sedentary lifestyle, and this raises serious concerns about the health of the entire generation. After all, it is not only about the extra pounds that are formed as a result of such an attitude towards oneself. Obesity gives rise to eating disorders and severe depression, teenagers suffer because of the discrepancy between their appearance and the imposed standards of beauty. This is especially true for girls, who have been told from TV screens since childhood that their success in life depends solely on sexuality.

In addition, excess weight is the cause of diabetes and many other chronic diseases. British scientists provided dry statistics, but said nothing about how to correct this situation. Perhaps schools need to increase the number of physical education lessons, and parents should accustom their children to active recreation from an early age. After all, it is almost impossible to change the habits of a rebellious teenager.
