Due to a significant decrease in daily temperatures, cases of hypothermia and frostbite may increase. The Main Health Department calls on Kiev residents and guests of Kiev to follow the basic rules of conduct that will help avoid the harmful effects of low temperatures on the body.

"Firstly, experts recommend dressing warmly. It is appropriate to put on several light sweaters instead of one warm one. This will prevent sweating, which is dangerous in the cold. If it gets hot, you can always take off one of the clothes. Clothes should be loose," the report says.

It is necessary to protect exposed areas of skin - wear gloves, and protect your nose and ears with a hat, scarf, or raised collar.

It doesn't hurt to have extra clothing if you plan to spend the whole day in the cold. Sometimes it's enough to change wet clothes for dry ones to avoid hypothermia.

Also, experts emphasize - you can't go out into the cold hungry. Before going outside, you must eat well, it is better to eat high-calorie foods. During a long stay outside, food will also help to warm up.

If you spend the whole day outside, it is advisable to go into a warm room every half hour or hour. If possible, take a thermos with hot coffee, tea or soup.

To prevent your extremities from freezing, you should work with your hands and move your legs to increase blood circulation in the freezing vessels. According to doctors, it is important not to overexert yourself in cold weather. A tired person is more susceptible to hypothermia.

Experts remind that it is absolutely forbidden to touch metal, either with bare hands or with the tongue.
