Almost every person on the planet dreams of a long life. But, according to experts, the longer a person lives, the more difficult it is for him, since longevity also has negative sides. An article was published in one of the British scientific publications, the authors of which explained from a scientific point of view why longevity can become a difficult test for a person.
A group of specialists at one of the research universities in the course of their work have identified the negative aspects of longevity, and in the conditions of the modern rhythm of life, such manifestations are becoming increasingly widespread. As the research of scientists has shown, most people have distorted ideas about longevity and poorly understand what problems they may have to face.
In particular, experts have established that the trend towards longevity that has emerged in recent years is linked to an increase in the number of years during which a person suffers from various diseases. In their study, a group of specialists analyzed data from people from different countries over 23 years (more than 150 countries took part in the study).
Scientists have calculated that in 1990 the population of our planet had been sick for a total of more than 500 million years, and 23 years later this figure had increased by 43% (more than 200 million years).
Most often, humanity suffers from depressive states and lower back pain, followed by dental problems, headaches, low hemoglobin, hearing problems. All these diseases significantly affect the quality of human life and reduce the feeling of joy from long-lived years.
Experts associate such a high percentage of sick people with the increase in the population of our planet and natural aging processes. Previously, infectious diseases posed a great danger to humanity, progress in medicine has reduced the level of diseases and mortality from various infections, but now people suffer mainly from diseases associated with an unhealthy lifestyle, bad habits, obesity, and aging.
In recent years, science and medicine have made great strides, but due to an unhealthy lifestyle and unwillingness to maintain good physical fitness, people suffer in old age, experts are sure. This is also indicated by the fact that since 1990, the number of people with diabetes has increased by almost 45%, but thanks to modern medicine, mortality from this disease has increased by only 9%.
But the low mortality rate is not a positive thing, according to experts, since the life of a person with diabetes is associated with many problems that significantly reduce the quality of life of a person, in addition, most diabetics suffer from obesity, which is also accompanied by certain problems with both health and quality of life.
In conclusion of their work, the experts noted that in order to improve the situation in the future, it is necessary to focus not on developing new treatment methods, but on maintaining one’s own health, paying more attention to physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
