Web2Health presents a list of products that are not actually as natural and healthy as they are believed to be.
When we go to the store, we try to buy natural products, carefully study the label, but what do we actually put in our basket? Is everything as natural and healthy as the labels on the packaging say?
A huge number of products presented on supermarket shelves are labeled as 100% natural products, but this designation does not always correspond to reality, because such “natural” jars can contain large doses of dyes, sweeteners, flavors and who knows what other additives.
In the US, lawsuits against manufacturers who listed “natural” ingredients on their labels that do not exist in nature have recently ended. Unfortunately, the number of such violations cannot be counted on the fingers of both hands.
The following list contains food products that are mistakenly considered natural and healthy.
Yogurt
What is not a healthy and unnatural product, you ask. Tasty, nutritious and milky. Can yogurt really harm the body? The answer is yes, and how! Don't be fooled by the floating pieces of fruit and the pleasant smell, because all these aromas are artificial, not to mention the color that "symbolizes" the fruit that is added to the yogurt. These are dangerous preservatives, whose name is E.
Bottled iced tea
A refreshing drink that is very popular in the summer heat. It is refreshing just by the look of its label, where ice cubes cut through the waves of the drink. Surely you will say that this is green tea, and it is known to have a million useful properties, including antioxidant and calming effects. However, all the antioxidant properties of green tea are negated by the amount of sugar contained in the drink. In addition, to get at least some benefit from such tea, a person must empty more than one bottle of the drink, which again will only bring harm due to the sugar content. And it is not worth talking about the smell and taste, because there is no smell of natural here.
Honey
The same disappointing news. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to buy a product on store shelves whose properties have been tested by time. The quality of “store-bought” honey is far from perfect, because manufacturers subject this healing product to all sorts of processing, including heat, during which all its useful properties simply evaporate. But the worst thing is that when honey is heated to 60 degrees and above, this product can become dangerous, because a toxic substance is formed in it - hydroxymethyl furfural. When this toxin enters the human body, it accumulates in the liver and can cause food poisoning. Even the inscription on the label, which states that the product is 100% natural, is not a guarantee that the honey does not contain preservatives. Manufacturers often resort to using such additives so that the honey remains liquid and does not crystallize.
Ice cream
This is an unchangeable product of the summer period, which is loved by representatives of all generations. Maybe ice cream was once made from milk, eggs and sugar, but now... The fact that ice cream is a high-calorie product is probably no secret to anyone, but if you can survive a shock dose of calories, then is it worth turning a blind eye to vegetable fats, modified starch, which is used as a thickener, emulsifiers, all kinds of flavor enhancers and flavorings that have become an integral part of your favorite product? Maybe it is better to learn how to make this delicacy at home?
"Sports" drinks
These drinks are very popular among people involved in sports. Manufacturers claim that a few sips of their products - and a person restores strength for further sports. However, research by scientists suggests that a person who drinks such drinks not only throws money down the drain, since improving sports results with the help of such drinks is a myth, but also harms his health. Firstly, these drinks lead to the accumulation of excess weight due to the concentration of sugar in them, and secondly, they provoke rapid dehydration of the body. So is it worth exposing yourself to such a risk?
Muesli
It would seem that this is a tasty and healthy breakfast that millions of people consume daily. What is wrong with it? First of all, the danger of this product is in the various additives, the purpose of which is to attract the attention of the buyer. A person buys not only a mixture of cereals and fruits, but also preservatives, which are used to process these fruits for greater brightness and attractiveness. In addition, muesli with the addition of honey, chocolate or coconut flakes significantly increases the caloric content, which contributes to excess weight gain.
And we can advise you to pay more attention to the list of ingredients that are included in the products and be healthy!
