A team of Israeli specialists announced the creation of a unique substance that can resist the AIDS virus. The development destroys cells infected with the virus and is completely safe for normal cells and the body as a whole.

Currently, the new drug based on the unique substance is still at the laboratory testing stage and it is too early to say that it will become a revolutionary cure for AIDS in the near future.

In their research, the scientists mixed the new substance with the blood of patients undergoing treatment for AIDS at Kaplan Medical Center. As a result of observations, it was shown that after a week, the cells infected with the virus practically disappeared, and healthy cells were completely unharmed.

Avraham Loiter, the head of the scientific group that developed the unique substance, noted in his interview that the potential cure for AIDS contains a special peptide capable of making several copies of the disease's DNA in a diseased cell, which causes the cell to completely die. The peptide's action is directed exclusively at diseased cells, and scientists practically exclude the possibility of any harmful effect on healthy cells or the patient's body. Also, according to specialists, a relapse of the disease is completely excluded, since diseased cells completely die and are not capable of provoking the development of the disease again.

Another feature of the new drug is its ability to enhance certain vital processes in the patient's body, which increases the effectiveness of the drug and increases the likelihood of complete death of diseased cells throughout the body.

If the drug turns out to be as effective as scientists expect, it will be used to treat AIDS patients. But when exactly the unique drug will appear on the pharmaceutical market, Loiter's team finds it difficult to say, since they have a whole series of experiments ahead of them.

By the way, every year the number of new cases of infection with the deadly virus only increases and doctors persistently repeat about the need to observe precautions. The main preventive measures are the use of condoms during sexual intercourse, regular testing to check your own HIV status.

In Israel, scientists are seriously concerned about the AIDS problem in the world. According to some reports, the Ministry of Health intends to launch a program to prevent the development of the human immunodeficiency virus. It is reported that clinics and medical centers will be provided with a drug called Truvada, which will help prevent the development of HIV in patients.

It is worth noting that this drug is already used in some countries (South Africa, France, the USA, etc.) and has already proven its effectiveness. According to the developers, the drug should be taken 3 times a week, which will help contain the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus throughout the body. In Israel, Truvada will be provided to people from the risk group - sexual partners of people with a positive HIV status, drug addicts, as well as those who for some reason do not use condoms during sexual intercourse.
