Almost all residents of a metropolis experience oxygen starvation (hypoxia). Most often, its victims are office workers, since they spend most of their time in poorly ventilated rooms, in stuffy transport, and are in a stressful situation. As a result, thinking abilities decrease, memory and concentration deteriorate, drowsiness, headaches, fatigue, increased susceptibility to seasonal diseases appear, and a lack of energy is noted.
The causes of oxygen starvation also include: smoking, alcohol abuse, various infectious diseases, injuries, hydrothorax (accumulation of non-inflammatory fluid in the pleural cavities) and angina pectoris (sharp pain or discomfort in the chest area caused by insufficient blood supply to a certain area of the heart).
If you do not consult a doctor in time, the consequences can be very serious (bronchial asthma, chronic respiratory infections worsen), there is a high probability of cerebral edema and ischemic stroke. How to feed the "hungry" brain, providing it with regular supplies of vital substances, and thereby increase the productivity of office workers?
Intermittent normobaric hypoxic therapy (INH) or "mountain air" is widely used for the prevention and treatment of oxygen starvation. INH increases the non-specific resistance of the body, thereby increasing resistance to various forms of stress, fatigue, hypoxia, and increasing mental and physical performance. The use of this method has a positive effect on oxygen metabolism and the acid-base balance of the body, normalizes the indicators of carbohydrate, fat, protein metabolism and the electrolyte spectrum of the blood, normalizes the parameters of the immunological status, increases the anti-inflammatory potential, and activates the activity of vital systems of the body.
According to experts, this method of treatment is indicated for patients with cardiovascular pathology, bronchial asthma, with reduced immunity, and pregnant women. The method can be used both in the clinic and at home. To achieve the effect, it is necessary to undergo 15 daily sessions. The course should be repeated 2-3 times a year.
There are other ways to satisfy oxygen hunger. There are now many bars and cafes where you can buy an oxygen cocktail. It helps supply oxygen to organs that do not receive it from the air in sufficient quantities. However, you should not abuse the drink, since oxygen is involved in the energy exchange of body tissues. When there is too much of it, the cells cannot cope - fainting and dizziness occur. There are also oxygen injections based on the introduction of oxygen into the deep layers of the skin.
There are medications to eliminate the effects of oxygen starvation, which should be used only as prescribed by a doctor to avoid side effects. As a rule, hypoxia victims are offered drugs that correct cerebral circulation, improve attention, memory, and the brain's resistance to oxygen starvation.
Doctors say that the best way to prevent hypoxia is to walk in the fresh air, eat right (it is recommended to eat foods containing iron), and exercise (training will saturate the blood cells with air and ensure their delivery to all cells of the body). Office workers should frequently ventilate the room, purchase a humidifier or air ionizer. You can fill the body with oxygen using breathing exercises (you must first consult a doctor).
