Dietitians from the Aberdeen Institute (Scotland) have developed a personal burger recipe containing beetroot extract. Scientists have already proven that beetroot is rich in antioxidants and does not prevent the body from getting "bad" fat.

When eating fatty foods in the stomach, oxidation occurs, in which fats are transformed into potentially dangerous mixtures and absorbed by the body. These substances can be associated with the development of cancer and heart disease.

Scientists have tried to find out whether a vegetable extract, added to grocery products, really hinders the processes of oxidation and absorption of "bad" fats. It will not be superfluous to notice that beets are also useful because it reduces blood pressure.

Having tested many different vegetable extracts, experts have revealed that a combination of turkey and beetroot gives the burger a good taste and guarantees the same look as a simple sandwich.

Now scientists recruit representatives of the stronger sex at the age of 21 to 60 years to participate in the study. Participants will have to eat burgers with turkey, in which either beets are added, or not, and scientists will learn what substances from the eaten will be absorbed by the body. If it turns out that the beet extract in the finished products actually prevents the absorption of "bad" fats, both buyers and producers will benefit. According to the authors of the work, the addition of vegetable extract to the products slows the oxidation process, which prolongs the life cycle of products on the shelf
