It is generally accepted that saturated fat in food causes weight gain, increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. That is why many people have recently started switching to low-fat or fat-free dairy products. But experts say that such products are not very healthy.
The latest study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center shows that the fat in dairy products is not linked to obesity or other problems. Eleven of 16 international studies confirmed that high fat content was, in fact, associated with low body fat and less weight gain.
True, experts are not rushing to rewrite official directives. It is noteworthy: last year, Ekaterina Maslova from the Harvard School of Public Health found that pregnant women who prefer low-fat yogurt can harm their child. According to her, such a diet increases the likelihood of developing asthma and allergic rhinitis.
