In Britain, more and more people are buying electric vehicles, only in early 2015, sales of such cars increased more than 3-fold. However, as the poll showed, many people would like to buy such a car for themselves, but they are stopped by the lack of infrastructure, in particular, the possibility to recharge the battery if necessary.

To solve this problem, the UK government decided to install chargers along the route, it is assumed that such stations will be located every 30 km (it should be noted that in addition there are thousands of charging stations for electric vehicles in the country).

But recently a completely new solution to the problem was proposed, which will make it possible to simplify the lives of the owners of electric vehicles as much as possible - an electric highway that will charge the car battery directly while driving, while using a wireless system.

If the system passes the test, new highways will add to the already used network of connected memory, which should also facilitate the charging of electric vehicles.

The representative of the company Motorway of England Nick Brunetti noted that the electric road has a number of advantages in comparison with stationary charging stations, since it allows to save time and increase the distance that a person can ride without fear of getting stuck somewhere on the road with a discharged battery.

In addition, this approach will provide an integrated ecosystem for electric vehicles.

It is assumed that the population will be more eager to use electric transport after the appearance of electric highways and an increase in the number of charging networks installed on standard highways.

Brunetti noted that the preparation of infrastructure for the transition to new modes of transport will become a major part of road management over the next three decades. According to Brunetti, today innovative technologies offer great opportunities, and it is best to use, for example, the same highways and increase their capacity for driver comfort.

In the electric road, cables will be laid, which will be the source of the electromagnetic field and supply energy to the vehicle. This system will work on renewable energy sources, most likely, the road will work on solar radiation. Now the government of Great Britain together with experts study details of this project.

Now the development of a road capable of transferring energy to a moving vehicle is at an early stage, Brunetti said, until laboratory research is completed, it is impossible to say which technologies will be used and how effective they will be.

Testing is scheduled for the end of this year. Experts intend to use part of the road to test the technology. It is assumed that if in a year and a half the technology proves its effectiveness, the project will expand.

If the electric highway proves its right to exist, then the first site will be built in the city of Gumi, located in South Korea.
