The lack of vitamin D in the body can cause serious disorders, in particular, it can lead to the development of osteoporosis. During pregnancy, a vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of pre-eclampsia (increased blood pressure, severe swelling, rapid weight gain due to fluid retention).
In addition, in their latest work, specialists have been able to determine that a lack of vitamin D can lead to chronic pain, which is usually associated with rheumatism or neurological disorders. As the research team notes, chronic pain is a common problem in modern society (1 in 5 people suffer from this type of pain).
Vitamin D is present in some foods of natural origin (fat from fish liver, fatty fish, egg yolks, mushrooms). In addition, many manufacturers artificially add vitamins to their products, for example, milk. But the best way to get vitamin D are sunbathing. Under the influence of ultraviolet in the body, vitamin D is converted into 25-hydroxyvitamin. Vitamin D contributes not only to strengthening bone tissue, but it increases muscle strength and protects against the development of oncological tumors and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
In Manchester, a group of researchers examined the state of health of more than two thousand men - Europeans. As a result of the research, it was found that men who had a vitamin D deficiency suffered twice as much from the common chronic pain, in comparison with those who had vitamin D within the norm. Continuing the study, experts found that one in fifteen men, who had not previously had any signs of disease, began to suffer from pain. In most cases, these men were overweight, depressive disorders, were physically inactive, and the like.
At this stage, scientists can say that a lack of vitamin D can lead to musculoskeletal pain, since there is a softening of the bones.
Also, the research team notes that a number of reasons, in particular lifestyle, external factors, can influence the appearance of muscle pain. This study is quite important from a medical point of view, since it can help in developing effective treatment for muscle pain. Now scientists have determined that there is some relationship between vitamin deficiency and the appearance of muscle pain, however, more research is needed to determine if muscle pain can be eliminated with small doses of vitamin D.
Recently, scientists have paid much attention to the research of biologically active additives. In particular, it has been studied by dietary supplement with the addition of vitamin D, which are considered not only useful for our health, but also safe. Now in the pharmacy you can find a wide variety of dietary supplements, which many use to maintain health and prevent avitaminosis. However, as a result of recent studies, there was no evidence of the benefits of dietary supplements for our health.
