Vitamin D has always been considered beneficial for health, in some cases it was prescribed even to infants. This vitamin is produced in our body under the influence of ultraviolet, and scientists have repeatedly confirmed its benefits, for example, researchers have assured that vitamin D helps fight various diseases - depression, diseases of the musculoskeletal system. But recent studies have shown that this vitamin is not so useful.
The team of Californian specialists studied in detail various preparations containing vitamin D in different concentrations, as well as their effect on the human body. As a result, experts came to the conclusion that this vitamin is not so important for a person, as was always believed. The scientists noted that vitamin D does not prevent the development of diseases, and the noted positive properties, confirmed by various clinical studies, are just a placebo effect. All drugs studied by scientists showed low healing properties, and taking such supplements did not have a general strengthening effect on the body. Also, there was no correlation between the use of vitamin D and strong bones.
The head of the scientific group, Michael Allan, is sure that the properties of vitamin D are overrated, he said, he and his group could not find any evidence that this vitamin helps to cope with depression, strengthens the bone system or helps reduce the risk of cancer.
But, despite the fact that vitamin D was not so important for the body, as it was believed, it still has some health benefits, noted in the team of Professor Allan, in particular, this vitamin is needed for patients who have already developed certain diseases (diffuse sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, certain types of cancer).
To completely opposite conclusions came the researchers from Australia, who during the study found that ultraviolet, which contributes to the production of vitamin D in the body, has great health benefits. It is this vitamin that plays a major role in the various metabolic processes that take place in our body.
It is believed that the sun (light tan) contributes to the production of vitamin D and strengthens the immune system, a number of studies confirmed this fact - with vitamin D deficiency in the body, children grow morbid, are prone to frequent colds. Even for adults, lack of sunlight can result in various chronic diseases, allergic reactions or bronchial asthma.
According to Australian scientists, in the winter, when there is a shortage of sunlight, low-fat sea fish can help, which contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (cod liver, halibut, salmon, cod liver, Atlantic herring).
Studies of vitamin D are made by scientists from different countries, but most of them confirm the benefits of this vitamin. Perhaps it is the benefit of natural vitamin D, which produces our body under the influence of the sun, and not artificial additives, and, to some extent, both American and Australian researchers may be right.
