The natural aging processes that occur in the brain usually occur with some impairment of cognitive functions. One of the latest studies shows that all processes can be softened to some extent by using certain dietary supplements with the addition of green tea and blueberries.

The research group also found that training the cognitive functions of the brain and physical exercise can help delay cognitive decline. Also, biologically active supplements (BAS), which have recently been the subject of close research by scientists, can help maintain clarity of thought and youth of the brain.

Brent Small and Paula Bickford, specialists from one of the Florida universities, conducted the first trial of dietary supplements whose main effect is to slow down or reverse the main problems associated with thinking and memory in older people.

Experts have developed a food supplement containing extracts of blueberries and green tea, essential acids, vitamin D3, antioxidants, and carnosine.

A group of volunteers were required to take a natural supplement during the study. The age of the participants in the experiment ranged from 65 to 85 years. Throughout the study, the volunteers periodically underwent tests assessing their memory, attention, and ability to learn new things.

After two months of the trial, the cognitive function of the participants taking the dietary supplement improved.

As the researchers themselves note, after taking the dietary supplements, people's brain processing speed increased. As a rule, with age, the speed of information processing decreases, i.e. the brain begins to age. Professor Brent Small noted that the successful origin of the test is the basis for complex neural functions, such as speech or memory. The main component of the new dietary supplement is blueberry, which contains mainly polyphenols (substances that have an antioxidant effect).

Polyphenols promote the growth of brain stem cells in animal studies, disproving the common belief that nerve cells cannot be restored.

Research shows that the use of drugs, herbs, and vitamin complexes does not always help to prevent cognitive decline in older people. But the same cannot be said about cognitive training, which can help preserve cognitive abilities in older people. According to statistics, up to 25% of people over 70 suffer from cognitive impairment.

The benefits of cognitive exercises have been proven by a research group from Toronto. During clinical trials, scientists studied the impact of computerized programs, intensive memory training on improving brain performance. Some studies have shown that this type of exercise is quite effective in improving memory and mental activity.
