In all regions of Ukraine, antiretroviral agents have been introduced to carry out the uninterrupted treatment process for HIV-infected people and patients diagnosed with AIDS, which should be sufficient until December 2014. If you follow an exemplary patient management plan, you can provide more than 68,000 people with HIV or AIDS with antiretroviral drugs , of which 53,024 people are already receiving medication, and 15,249,000 HIV-infected people will just start treatment.

As it became known, at the beginning of May 2014, the regions of Ukraine are 93% provided with antiretroviral funds out of the total number of purchases from public funds. For May - June 2014, it is planned to supply drugs purchased under the Global Fund to Fight Infectious Disease (Malaria, Tuberculosis, AIDS) grant program.

Specifically, in order to avoid cases of interruptions in the treatment of patients, certain schemes for the redistribution of medicines between the regions were provided for, as well as substitution of treatment with analog drugs, which is in accordance with the provisions of the "Clinical Protocol for Antiretroviral Treatment of HIV Infection," which was approved in 2010 by the Cabinet Ukraine.

As shown by the analysis, which was carried out using Electronic methods of monitoring the movement and use of antiretroviral drugs, remnants of medicines in the regions are enough to ensure that patients' therapy in 2014 was uninterrupted.

The Ukrainian Social Welfare Service notes that in order to reduce the spread of the disease and the death rate from HIV infection, access to ART should be increased. To date, Ukraine has every opportunity to make effective use of public procurement mechanisms, including international experience.

The most important stage in providing patients with antiretroviral drugs is negotiation with pharmaceutical companies, since the understanding by the company management of the HIV and AIDS problems for Ukraine, as well as the consequences that may arise as a result of the price increase for antiretroviral drugs, affect the effectiveness of overcoming the epidemic problems for the country.

The problem of HIV and AIDS for Ukraine today is extremely urgent.

Countries of the former USSR HIV infection officially reached in 1987, until 1995 in Ukraine, only a few cases of HIV infection were recorded, and at that time Ukraine was considered from the point of view of WHO a country with a low risk of morbidity. To date, Ukraine has taken the first place among European and Asian countries in terms of the spread of infection.

Over the period of independence from AIDS, more than 20,000 people aged between 25 and 50 died. According to statistics, about 60 people are infected daily in Ukraine, 8 Ukrainian citizens die.

The most common methods of contracting HIV are drug addiction, prostitution, homosexuality, in addition, thousands of children are born every year from HIV-positive mothers.
