Everyone knows that sex brings pleasure and enjoyment, but do you know how beneficial it is for your health?
Sex helps strengthen the body's defenses
Researchers at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, found that having sex once or twice a week boosts the immune system. The researchers found a 30 percent increase in immunoglobulin A (IgA), a class of antibodies that provide local immunity, in people who had sex once or twice a week. Immunoglobulin proteins act like antibodies, binding to pathogens when they enter the body and triggering an immune system response to destroy them.
Sex for men's health
Men who have sex three or more times a week cut their risk of heart attack and stroke in half, according to a study from Queen's University Belfast. Regular sex may also protect men from prostate cancer. Scientists from the National Cancer Institute surveyed 30,000 middle-aged men and found that those who ejaculated an average of 21 times a month had a 33% lower risk of developing prostate cancer.
Sex as a painkiller
Ah, the power of orgasm. As it turns out, waves of orgasm send out a shockwave of oxytocin, also known as the love hormone. This in turn releases endorphins, which can ease arthritis pain. Research has also shown that sex can reduce menstrual cramps and help regulate a woman’s monthly cycle.
Sex is a charge of good mood
A recent study published in the journal Fertility and Infertility suggests limiting or even stopping treatment with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), antidepressants that can not only cause sexual dysfunction in men (problems with ejaculation) but also cause genetic damage to their sperm. Instead of various drugs, it is better to have sex regularly, because orgasm releases an army of endorphins - a wave of well-being that helps prevent depressive symptoms.
Sex will help you look younger and give you longevity
Having sex regularly several times a week can help people look 4 to 7 years younger. Other studies suggest that sex doesn't just turn back the clock, it also gives you longevity.
It makes you $100,000 happier.
Having regular sex makes people happier than earning money. A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that marriages in which partners have regular sex feel as happy as if they had earned an extra $100,000.
