In China, next year, perhaps the world's first transplant of the human head will be made. To carry out this ambiguous experiment, Dr. Xiaopin Ren, whom journalists called Dr. Frankenstein, intends.
The 55-year-old scientist is sure that his knowledge and experience is enough to conduct such a complex operation on people, and the final preparations will take only a few months.
Earlier, this Chinese doctor already shocked the public with his experiments with animals - according to Ren, he was able to transplant the head of a monkey who lived after the operation for almost a day.
Journalists managed to penetrate the holy of holies of Dr. Ren - his secret laboratory, which is located in the north of China. They managed to find out that the expert had more than a hundred such operations, all of his subjects were animals and, according to Dr. Ren, now he is ready for an operation on a man. The scientist is fully confident in his abilities and does not pay attention to remarks and criticism, but in response to the media nickname given to him, he said that he is simply doing his job.
Ksiaopin Ren worked at the State University of Cincinnati (Ohio State) for 15 years, but then was forced to leave the US, as such experiments are limited and banned. In his native China, Dr. Ren continued to work in this direction, in addition, he received generous funding for his research from the Chinese authorities. It is worth noting that among the Chinese rumors spread that the scientist conducts experiments not only with animals, but also with corpses of people, for his research, Dr. Wren uses various organs of prisoners who were sentenced to death. But the scientist himself refuses to discuss the ethical side of his research and notes that he is only interested in science.
By the way, about the conduct of such an experiment (transplantation of the human head), said neurosurgeon from Italy Sergio Canavero. But the Italian specialist planned to carry out the operation in 2017 and even the first patient in the world was already chosen who agreed to have his head transplanted to another body - Russian Valery Spiridonov, a 30-year-old Vladimir resident with a hereditary disease that develops muscle atrophy of the legs, head, neck and violated arbitrary movements (walking, holding the head, swallowing, etc.).
In the media, there have already been references to successful rodent transplant operations. For the first time such an operation was conducted in 2013 and took about 10 hours.
It should be noted that head transplantation from an ethical point of view is a negative reaction and a number of specialists even refuses to talk about the possibility of conducting such operations. As already mentioned, it was the ethical side of the matter that made Dr. Wren leave the United States and continue his studies in China, which is more tolerant in this matter.
By the way, in China such research works, which in the world scientific community are considered unethical or dangerous, are not financed for the first time. In the spring of last year, the group of Junjuju Huang, with the consent of the authorities, conducted experiments with human embryos, and for the first time was able to change the human DNA.
