Honey is known to be a useful and valuable product and has long been used to treat various diseases. Not all surprising properties of this product were proved by science and in New Zealand experts decided to better study the properties of this product, but researchers were interested not so much in the use for immunity as in the ability of honey to improve or slow down the work of the brain.
During the work, scientists observed several groups of rodents. The rats that scientists selected for their experiment were divided into several groups, each of which performed certain test tasks and fed different food, in particular, one group of rats added a small amount of honey, another added propolis, flower pollen or royal jelly.
As a result, it was possible to establish that those rodents who received honey with food were better able to cope with tasks, in addition, in stressful situations, animals remained calm, and their level of anxiety was an order of magnitude lower, compared to other relatives who did not eat honey .
According to the researchers, not only does honey have a beneficial effect on brain function, but other bee products such as propolis, etc., thanks to these products (which, incidentally, should be consumed on a daily basis) improve brain performance and reduce anxiety. Honey contains a unique set of carbohydrates and other valuable compounds that positively affect the brain and psyche of a person, while similar in nutritional properties of products in nature does not exist.
It is worth noting that modern living conditions require a person to have a good memory, because every day they have to process a huge amount of information, but even with modern adaptations a person always manages to cope with the problem. Due to forgetfulness, plans often remain unrealized, a number of problems remain unresolved, but scientists say that people have always had the opportunity to improve memory. At Northumbrian University, Mark Moss and his team concluded that the aroma of rosemary positively affects the ability to memorize, and also improves the functioning of the brain.
The compound present in the rosemary aroma - 1,8-cineol - positively affects the brain, and experiments have confirmed the findings of specialists.
Scientists selected volunteers, who were divided into several parts, each participant had to undergo testing, which determines cognitive abilities, memory. Two groups of participants were assigned special rooms, in which different flavors were sprayed - in the first rosemary, in the second lavender. The third group of volunteers performed the task in a room with purified air.
As a result, the participants in the first group, where the rosemary aroma was in the room, coped with all tasks much faster, and the tests showed improvement in long-term memory. But scientists note that the aroma of rosemary can be used to improve memory only in the absence of contraindications. According to experts, this tool will not help patients with Alzheimer, but schoolchildren and students will help to improve the effectiveness of training.
