Joint efforts of specialists from the Scripps Research Institute in California, the medical center of Mayo, Minnesota and other research institutions made a sensational discovery - an entirely new type of drug that helps slow aging and increase life expectancy.
Scientists have classified their development as a cenolithic drug, destroying the "aged" cells in the body, and improving the work of the heart, in addition, the drugs of this group are struggling with the development of many age-related diseases.
As the developers themselves noted, the unique drug is a real breakthrough in the field of treatment and can become a new stage in the development of treatment methods aimed at increasing life expectancy, preserving youth and human health.
The new drug destroys the old cells in the body, which have already "worked out" their time and ceased to share. Experts have long found out that in the young organism the process of cell renewal is actively going on, but with age, "old" cells accumulate in the body and the process of renewal practically does not occur, which leads to age-related changes and diseases.
In the course of their research, scientists drew attention to the fact that the behavior of "aged" cells can be compared to cancerous: they also observe the activation of survival mechanisms, they block the process of natural cell death. Based on the results obtained, the researchers concluded that anticancer preparations can be used to combat "obsolete" cells.
Further work showed that the scientists' assumption was correct. A number of experiments have shown that two methods are most suitable for fighting "old" cells: dezantib (anti-cancer drug) and quercetin (antihistamine with anti-inflammatory effect).
Specialists conducted their studies on cell cultures and experiments showed that it was these two drugs that caused the death of "obsolete" cells and did not affect healthy and "young" ones. With simultaneous use, scientists noted the strongest rejuvenating effect on the body.
After successful experiments on cultures, specialists conducted a series of experiments on laboratory rodents. As a result, it turned out that even after a single injection of the new drug, the cardiovascular system improved significantly, the bone tissue became stronger, and the rodents became more enduring.
According to scientists, similar tests of the new drug can be carried out with the participation of people, but before that you need to take into account a lot of factors and possible side reactions that may occur after the introduction of a new tool, and this takes time.
Also, experts noted that in the future such drugs can be used, but only in rare cases, i.e. Anti-aging treatment will be possible to take a single course.
They also noted that even if it is possible to partially slow down the aging process, the quality of life of older people will improve significantly.
