Experts recommend that people who want to reduce the amount of food consumed use blue lighting in the kitchen. At the University of Arkansas during the research it was found that when lighting the blue color, the food becomes visually unattractive. As experts suggest, blue is unnatural for food, so this immediately affects the appetite.
In addition, scientists have established an interesting fact that lighting does not greatly affect women's appetite. Most likely, in their opinion, the whole point is that women in evaluating food rely more on the flavor of the dish than on its appearance. But the male half pays more attention to the color of the products and blue causes suspicion in their subconscious and reduces appetite.
The experts conducted their research with the participation of 112 volunteers, who were offered to eat the same dishes, but each group had its own lighting. As a result, all participants ate a different number of products, but the level of satisfaction at all was roughly the same.
Experts have already proved that color can influence the perception of taste, for example, the color of the mug in which coffee pours affects the taste buds. As experts assure, in this case the psychological aspect works. For example, in another study, experts found that red strawberry mousse on a white plate is perceived as more flavorful and sweet than the same dessert on a plate of black color.
In addition, earlier scientists have already established that lighting affects the choice of food. So, with good lighting or at a table by the window, cafe / restaurant visitors preferred healthy food more often. In poor lighting, people are prone to overeating and eating a large amount of fatty, roasted, etc.
At the University of Cornell, experts came to the conclusion that eating at the window allows people to watch passers-by, see sunlight, trees, etc., as a result, a person becomes more aware of what he looks like and there are thoughts about a healthy lifestyle.
According to scientists, with the onset of darkness, people start to think that no one can see the amount eaten, so the sense of guilt is reduced. Also, scientists have determined that eating in places where few outsiders allows you to eat much more. As studies have shown, at the table at the door customers order less salads and prefer desserts.
At the table near the bar, more alcoholic drinks and cocktails are ordered (at the third table from the bar they order three glasses of beer or a cocktail more than the fourth).
Also experts believe that the place at the table near the TV in the bar can also change the choice of customers, because in this case people prefer fried foods. Customers who sit at high inconvenient tables tend to slouch more, in addition, it is problematic to place dishes on these tables, so in such cases, salads are more often ordered and less often desserts.
