Alexander Volosovets acting. Director of the Department of Personnel, Education and Science of Ukraine, said at a brief press conference on the holding of the introductory company in 2014 in higher medical schools and the staffing of the medical industry.
According to him, currently over 180,000 doctors work in the national system of health care, but there is a shortage of specialists (more than 40,000). In 2013, the overall completion rate was at 82%. Ukraine badly needs family doctors, emergency doctors, as well as military doctors, whose training today is practically reduced to zero. A particularly topical problem today is the staffing of institutions for health protection in rural areas.
The team of the Minister of Health of Ukraine Oleg Musia developed the concept of building a new national health protection system. According to the plan, it is necessary to provide high-quality personnel for the medical sector, primarily in rural areas, where it is necessary to develop a system of local stimulation for doctors. According to Oleg Volosovtsya, the new medical system will allow local communities to care for, cherish and love their doctor - this is what we should strive for, besides this attitude to doctors will allow us to provide work in rural areas with more than seven thousand specialists.
Also Alexander Volosovec said that in order to eliminate the present disproportion between the level of providing medical care in rural areas and the city today, more than 4,000 doctors have provided jobs, which is almost 100% of the total graduates of students who were trained on state orders.
More than half of them are directed to health care institutions in rural areas, in particular, to primary health care centers.
Therefore, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine has increased the state order for the training of doctors this year - the amount of admission to the specialty of a doctor in the direction of "Medicine" was more than 5 thousand people, 597 more than last year.
Oleg Volosovets told reporters that this direction determined the peculiarities of admission of entrants in 2014 to higher medical schools. A special headquarters was created in the Ministry of Health, and in each medical university there are special "hot lines" that allow to quickly solve the emerging problems of the introductory company of this year. This year, more than 73,000 applicants wished to study at higher Ukrainian medical institutions (more than 12,000 young people applied for admission to the National Medical University named after O. Bogomoltsya, more than 9,000 people entered the Vinnytsia National Medical University named after Pirogov, to the Lviv National University the medical university - more than 7 thousand entrants, in the Kharkov National Medical University - almost 5 thousand people). The biggest contest (about 30 people per seat) is observed in the pharmaceutical specialty, medical psychology, dentistry.
More than 60% of applications applicants submitted in electronic form, which is very convenient for future students, and for the selection committee and in the future the Ministry of Health plans to actively develop this direction.
