Cancer, discovered by doctors in December 2009, has already led the Australian Denis Wright to the final several times. While the doctors once again conjectured about how much the patient had to live, the patient decided to share his thoughts, forming them into life lessons of the dying person.
The deadly diagnosis - glioblastoma - did not prevent Denis from celebrating his 66th birthday. Aggressive brain tumor, according to neurosurgeons, is incurable. The life of the patient is supported by the drug "avastin". The doomed Mr. Wright was more and more immersed in gloomy reflections on the past years. He could not even think that on his deathbed he would find his happiness: soon after the medical verdict he married. Denis Wright and his caring husband Tracy say they feel an incredible emotional connection.
Contrary to all medical predictions, Mr. Wright remains a cheerful person. The disease made him rethink many values. Denis decided to share his thoughts on a personal blog called "My Unexpected Stranger". On the Internet pages, the Australian shares life lessons, experiences, describes his experiences. Of course, Denise Wright talks about health problems. But he also does not forget to joke, remembering that he did not understand the true meaning of the wedding before - the opportunity to receive many valuable gifts. Preferring to communicate over the phone, which is faster than letters, Denis sent his "advice doomed" to the site news.com.au in electronic form, as the man's vocal cords were already significantly damaged.
Life without fear or the lessons of the dying Denise Wright
- Do not waste yourself on hated work. Unfortunately, life is so short to enjoy it on weekends and during the hours after work.
- Bad events in your life that can not be foreseen or controlled, you need to learn to accept. It is useless to knock your head against a dead brick wall.
- If you have a sense of being able to change something, be sure to try to do it with all your might. Catch the nature of the problem, which will help you take the right steps.
- You should not divide decisions into "bad" and "good." If you stumbled, took the wrong side - draw conclusions and move on. Nobody knows which way is right. Regret, self-flagellation only distances you from the goal and are empty things.
- Do not grieve over the past, you can not change it. We need to live here and now, but not in a single instant, but with an interval that absorbs the past, the present and the future.
- Sincerely apologize to those who were hurt. Nobody is perfect, you including. Take responsibility for your suffering caused to your neighbor.
- Open yourself to everything new. There are so many amazing opportunities and ideas around you.
- Try not to let the sense of humor leave you, no matter what.
- Catch the moment.
And one more truth:
- Let there be no fear of death in your life. The absence of fear of death will make you free. You will stop being afraid of any life shaking.
Over 250 thousand people from all over the world visited Mr. Wright's blog. The National Library of Australia decided to archive Denis's personal site and post it for online access at any time.
