Experts from foggy London argue that in the near future it will be possible to restore the molar teeth of patients and replace the missing with the help of new teeth grown from the gingival cells.
Researchers from Great Britain (London) conducted the following experiment on small rodents: several healthy cells were taken from the gums of an adult healthy person, which were later introduced into the embryonic tissues of a laboratory mouse. After some time, the cells were injected into small rodents, where they successfully established themselves and formed a growing hybrid tooth from rodent and human tissues.
Experts believe that the success of this research will substantially bring modern medicine to the possibility of using such technologies in everyday life. Earlier, scientists from the United Kingdom tried to create so-called "biosubs" from embryonic stem cells.
A recent experiment was that in a healthy adult, gingival epithelial cells were harvested that were grown in a clinical setting. The grown cells were then introduced into the embryonic tissue of white rodents. The cell combinations proved to be successful and it can be said that from the epithelial cells grew into new healthy teeth. Cells obtained from the combination of human epithelial cells and germ cells of mice were introduced to rodents. After the transplantation of the cells, scientists reported that they finally managed to grow hybrid teeth from human and rodent cells with a root capable of developing. Previous studies have shown that the cell tissue after transplant can develop independently and even turn into a full-fledged healthy tooth.
The scientists consider the significant progress in science to be the possibility of an easy and not too expensive method of obtaining the human embryonic connective tissue, which is necessary for research. If in the conditions of medicine of our time it becomes possible to grow such a tissue, the use of the above technology will become available for every modern hospital. One of the leaders of the study reported that the desired type of cells is in the pulp of wisdom teeth and the main difficulty is to get enough.
Despite the difficulties, the scientists consider it a success that they managed to determine the type of tissue that is needed to grow new healthy teeth. The following studies will be aimed at opening a fast and safe way of growing connective tissues. Participants of the research are sure that after a short time they will be able to create a replacement for the dental implants used today that do not allow restoring the original structure of the tooth and are an artificial continuation of it.
In addition, implants are considered not too reliable and durable because of the fact that during the process of rubbing the bone near the implant can be erased. According to the head of the experiment, the new technology will be actively used in 10-15 years. The main problem is that the financial side considers the financial side: until an inexpensive method of obtaining the right cells is found, a new method of restoring the teeth can not compete with implants that are regularly used in modern dentistry.
