Researchers from the northern US states have published a method with which it will be possible to identify and separate in the human body cancer cells from the affected and healthy. Experts believe that such an opening can help during the treatment of malignant tumors precisely at the level of metastases. Scientists who worked on the new technique, reported that the greatest danger associated with cancer, is the proliferation of dangerous cells and their rapid spread to the human body, or simply put - in metastasis.
Metastasis is a rapid process of formation of new growth foci of tumors as a result of reproduction and spreading them from the primary focus. The presence of numerous metastases makes malignant tumors so dangerous for health, a complete cure of which seems almost impossible. The latest study has revealed a method, the use of which can control the movement of cancer cells that are dangerous to the body.
Specialists have developed an unknown material that could be a natural catalyst for burning cancer cells without adversely affecting healthy cells in the body. It is this moment that is key in the research, since all methods of combating malignant tumors known earlier destroy cancer cells, but along with them, healthy ones can also die.
A new method of killing cancer cells was unofficially called a "trap for cancer cells" because of the possibility of attacking only "bad" cells. The technique has a clearly targeted effect and physicians believe that it can be used even in severe cancer diseases of such vital organs as the stomach, lungs or intestines.
At the university, where the new methods were being studied, physicians admit that the approach can be considered at the moment not quite traditional, as its principles are somewhat different from, for example, chemotherapy, which is actively used in the fight against cancer. The newly invented method opens the eyes to a qualitative approach to combating malignant formations and metastasis. Scientists agree that the idea requires careful analysis and possible refinement, but, nevertheless, it can be considered the first step towards the invention of previously unused therapy directed against cancer.
Previously, a similar method tried to introduce researchers from Stanford University. Several doctors have discovered a number of proteins that are able to help a person resist cancer. Proteins are also able to stop the proliferation of cancer cells, thus slowing the spread of a dangerous tumor in the body. This discovery is in development and has been confirmed only on experiments with field mice and other rodents. Experts believe that the human body must react to new proteins in this way, which will be the impetus for further research of the substance. Some scientists believe that proteins will be able not only to block the reproduction of cancer cells, but also to destroy existing cells.
