Korean doctors have proposed an alternative method of treating arthritis of the knee joint, based on the use of special jelly. Experts say that jelly made from stem cells, which are contained in cord blood, has the property to strengthen joints. At the moment the new method of treatment is in detailed development by the laboratory assistants of the university.
Osteoarthritis of the knee joint is a slowly progressing, but serious enough disease, which at the initial stage is difficult to diagnose. The disease is mainly affected by elderly people and elderly people who, due to age, have a slow and therefore less noticeable depletion of the cartilage in the knee joint.
The first signs of arthritis of the knee joint are pain of a diffuse nature, which gradually becomes permanent, swelling, inflammation, accompanied by an increase in temperature. In addition to anaesthetics and physiotherapy techniques, it is possible to distinguish a surgical method (which it is desirable to avoid if the disease, of course, is not too late) and alternative "grandfather" methods. Only a qualified specialist can find the right therapy, which can accurately determine the stage of the disease and note possible contraindications.
Korean scientists assure that they will soon be able to offer alternative treatment for osteoarthritis, which can significantly alleviate the suffering of patients without surgical intervention. Such confidence appeared in the University staff after carrying out animal studies, during which the positive effect of the new drug on cartilage tissues was determined. From the umbilical cord stem cells, a jelly-like material with restoring properties was created. The result of the experiment showed that this substance is capable of strengthening and restoring damaged cartilaginous tissue, which in the future will help in the treatment of arthritis of the knee joint. Scientists are sure that the timely use of a new drug will allow in the near future to refuse surgical intervention during the treatment of osteoarthritis.
