This may be surprising, but the fact remains that the kitchen sponge for dishwashing is the dirtiest thing in a house that has about ten million bacteria. And it's not just harmless bacteria, but the most real causative agents of paralysis.
A new study of scientists from the University of Arizona showed that the toilet seat was unfairly called the dirtiest place in the house, because there are places and objects on which there is a much larger number of pathogens.
A professor of microbiology, Charles Gerba, who studies the mechanism of transmission of pain in the environment, examined samples taken from various objects in the house. Particular attention he paid to fecal bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and E. Coli.
The professor came to the conclusion that it is safer to crush vegetables on the toilet seat than on a kitchen cutting board, because in fact it is one of the cleanest places in the house in terms of the number of microorganisms on it. So, on the toilet seat on the average there are about 50 bacteria on 6,4 square centimeters, but on the cutting board and kitchen sponge there are 200 000 times more microbes.
This is due to the cutting of raw meat on the board, from where the infection occurs. The same goes for the sponge - you can wash the dishes with it, but never clean it with a clean plate. With the kitchen towel the same story - it's the same bacterial bag as the sponge with the board. Campylobacteria are spirally curved microorganisms, which at best can cause food poisoning, and at worst - lead to the development of paralysis. Just these bacteria also like to settle on washcloths.
Odako bacteria are waiting for us not only at home. One of the dirtiest places is also the office, and the subject is a keyboard on which bacteria peacefully coexist, which are 400 times larger than on the toilet seat.
Stores are also fraught with danger, and especially the handles of trucks. When taking the sample, it turned out that the fecal bacteria are on them, and the result is positive for the presence of juices and blood of meat, mucus, saliva and urine.
