As everyone knows, the spine is one of the most important organs of man, which is responsible for many different vital functions. Due to its flexible structure, it serves as a support for all human organs, protecting them and damping all shocks and impacts when moving.
However, the older a person becomes, the less stress the spine can withstand. His cartilaginous formations, which so helped us in our youth to feel so mobile and agile, begin to ossify with age and lose their flexibility.
An important role in this is our way of life. Constant sitting, lack of mobility and uncomfortable positions lead to deformations in the spine, the appearance of pain sensations and systemic changes in the structure of the spine.
If such a process has begun, it can not be ignored, since it is a direct path to numerous diseases that can eventually become chronic.
Stiffness of the movements, unpleasant sensations in the lower back and quick fatigue are symptoms that may be harbingers of osteochondrosis and more serious problems with the back.
So how to avoid these troubles and not become a victim of your own carelessness?
If you sit, it's right.
Most of all, the spine suffers when we sit.
It seems incredible, but the load is greater when we sit, and not when we stand. The fact that some people are forced to sit at work is not so bad, the worst thing is the position that we take in the sitting position. Most of all, the harm is caused by sitting with the inclination forward.
Footwear
No less important factor is also what we are wearing.
When choosing shoes, pay attention to the sole. At each step, the foot should "spring" and soften the load. And when wearing shoes with a hard sole and or a high heel, each step passed is called a blow to the spine.
Smoking
Everyone knows that we are what we eat. And what about what we breathe?
After smoking causes constriction of blood vessels. According to research by Finnish scientists, bouts of back pain of obscure etiology are more likely to be attended by smokers than non-smokers. Smoking increases the threat of pain in the lumbar region by 30-35%.
Loads
Sport is life.
But are we prepared for physical exertion so that it is safe for us. If you regularly attend a gym or are engaged under the guidance of an experienced physiotherapist - you have nothing to worry about, because your back is prepared for testing with weights. And if your limit of dreams after a hard day of work in the office and tiring work with the mouse is a sofa at home with a remote control in your hand and a delicious dinner. Then everything can be not so cloudless.
After all, lifting heavy objects becomes the number one cause in exacerbation of osteochondrosis and the formation of herniated intervertebral discs. In particular, a person feels a sharp pain after lifting the weight sharply, jerkily. This should not be done in any case. Try not to lift weights over 15 kg, do not wear a heavy one in one hand, and do not bend over when carrying a heavy load.
Sleep position
But at least at home, in a soft bed, nothing is in danger!
No matter how. Back pain can be caused by our night rest. It would seem that the body should relax, but unnatural postures, too soft or hard bed and too large a pillow can cause pain in the back and neck area. Therefore, you do not need to sleep on feather beds or on bare boards, going from extreme to extreme. The bed should be comfortable and moderately tight, and the pillow should not resemble a springboard.
Excess weight
- "Enough is there, you've already recovered!"
"I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!"
But the excess weight is what has to do with it? And here and at what. Problems with weight can cause problems with the back due to the displacement of the center of gravity and as a consequence, increasing the load on the lower back.
So what do you do?
If you are already experiencing pain, do not hesitate, consult your doctor and start training. And even better, contact a professional physiotherapist who can choose the most suitable system of exercises and exercises. And then you and your spine are guaranteed to be healthy. And ignoring problems and limiting physical activity will only exacerbate the problem.
