Unfortunately, there is no effective medicine that can be cured quickly from a cold, so if you are unlucky and you have already caught a cold, feel that your throat starts hurting, there is a runny nose and an aching feeling in your body, try to ease the course of the disease.

Medications

Now there are many drugs to relieve the symptoms of colds: syrups and pills for cough, expectorants, all kinds of potions and hot teas. They are not aimed at treatment, but only to alleviate the course of the disease. Remember that antibiotics will not help you fight colds, because they are effective only against bacterial infections. When buying non-prescription drugs from the group of antihistamines and anti-edema drugs, you should choose the ones that are most suitable for eliminating your symptoms. Such over-the-counter products contain ingredients for the treatment of various manifestations of diseases. If you do not feel relief after seven to ten days, it is better to seek medical help from a doctor.

Food

Chicken broth for colds - not just a myth, originated from nowhere. A team of American scientists conducted research and found that chicken soup is an excellent remedy for fighting colds. One of the components of chicken soup prevents the movement of cells - neutrophils, which cause inflammation. Neutrophils are part of our immune system - it is a type of white blood cells that can cause inflammatory reactions of our body.

Vitamin and mineral complex

Most healthy people can count on the well-coordinated work of the body's immune system, but it needs to be recharged. In the autumn-winter period, it is very important for our body to receive vitamins and trace elements with food, but it is also a good idea to supplement this support with vitamin-mineral supplements. The optimal complex of supplements should include vitamin C, B vitamins and carotenoids, and from minerals - iron, calcium, selenium, zinc and magnesium. In addition to this, eat plenty of foods rich in antioxidants.

A full night's rest

Although the need for sleep can vary somewhat depending on the characteristics of the human body, a sleep of seven to nine hours is mandatory. Many people, due to employment or any other reasons, do not sleep the amount of time needed to restore the body. This is worth considering, because the rest of less than seven hours, increases the risk of a cold three times compared to those who normally get enough sleep. If you have already caught a cold, then relax and let the body focus on recovery.

Dehydration

With colds, it is very important to consume a lot of fluids to avoid dehydration. Water, juices, tea with lemon and honey, as well as light broths will help to prevent dehydration of the body, and will weaken the nasal congestion. Also a good option is to install an air humidifier in the house, which will also alleviate the symptoms of a cold.
