Life on the coast is fine, but this magnificence has one more important bonus: good health. People who live on the coast of the sea are healthier than those who live in the depths of the country. This conclusion was reached by researchers who analyzed information on the state of more than 48 million people in England. It was found that the closer people live to the coast, the better was their health over the past year. And this is after taking into account such factors as age, sex, social status and the presence of green spaces.
The difference from those living on the coast was relatively small. About 1% of the population distinguished themselves by better health than those who lived thirty miles or more from the sea. However, according to researchers from the College of Medicine and Dentistry Exeter, even such a small percentage is of great importance for the entire health care system. According to experts, life near the coast is better in terms of health, primarily because the marine environment reduces stress. Previously conducted research proved that vacation at sea is the best way to relax and recharge your batteries for the whole year.
But this does not mean that everyone should immediately go to live near the sea, only to improve their health. The study has not yet revealed a causal relationship, and it is possible that there are other factors that can explain this surprising phenomenon. One might think that only rich people who can afford the best treatment go to the coast. However, the study took into account the financial situation. And the poor can also boast enviable health.
