A sixteen-year-old Canadian student won the Sanofi BioGENEius Challenge biotechnology competition after discovering an antioxidant capable of slowing down aging. This antioxidant consists of nano-particles, and is found in a large number of fibers of living trees.
A young and gifted "biochemist" in a skirt is called Janiel Tam. An extraordinary and incredibly important invention for a science that the girl made, brought her not only the first place in the prestigious competition and fame, but also enriched by $ 5,000 - the main prize of the contest in the field of biotechnology.
In the panel of the annual contest "Sanofi BioGENEius Challenge" are the most famous and outstanding scientists of Canada.
To make her startling discovery, a young student from Ottawa spent four hours in the chemical laboratory every day for 6 months. Most of the time she devoted to the study of a special molecule: NCC. This is crystallized nano-cellulose. It is in the fibers of living trees and is a strong antioxidant that slows down the aging of the body.
In relation to the human body, it behaves much more stable and more effective than the known vitamins A and C. In addition, the time of exposure of this antioxidant to the human body is longer.
Scientists believe that in the future this discovery has the opportunity to bring Canada about 250 million dollars. However, first they want to carefully study the mechanism of action of this molecule.
Perhaps soon there will be a real Canadian "youth elixir"
