Scientists came to the conclusion that once you are fat, you will never lose weight. Diets can help, but only for a short time. The vast majority of people who are dieting, then still gain weight.
A lengthy study of about 25,000 women and men, conducted by a group of scientists from the State Medical Research Council, showed that when middle-aged people start gaining weight, this trend only worsens over time.
According to experts, people who organize campaigns for a healthy lifestyle, it is better not to spend energy on promoting diets, but to think about how to prevent the initial weight gain.
Indeed, every year 12 million people try to diet. And only 10% of them manage to lose a significant amount of kilograms. Meanwhile, within a year people even from this group will gain weight again.
Scientists specifically monitored 5,362 men and women born in 1946, and for 20,000 people, most of whom were born in 1958. People from both groups began to gain weight in the 80's. And from that very moment their weight only increased.
In men, weight gain occurs without jumps throughout life. "In women, weight gain starts slowly, but somewhere in the 35 years it reaches its highest level, once you gain weight, you can not get rid of it anymore, because the person is only getting fat, despite attempts to get rid of kilograms," Hardy commented from the Medical Research council.
