At the beginning of the week, German doctors reported mass poisoning. On Tuesday, there were more than 130 victims and two dead. Then epidemiologists named the enterohaemorrhagic bacterium Escherichia coli as the causative agent of the infection. The doctors were surprised by the special gravity of the condition of the victims and the fact that the lion's share of them is women.
To date, in Germany, the number of infected and patients suspected of infection, according to some reports, has reached 600 people. Today it became known that the Netherlands recorded the first case of a similar intestinal infection, according to the National Institute of Health and Environment RIVM.

According to preliminary estimates, low-quality vegetables and fruits have become the cause of the spread of infection in Germany. Epidemiologists suspect cucumbers, tomatoes and leaf lettuce. The Food Safety Authority of the Netherlands has already stated that all German agricultural products are expected to be closely monitored.
