The social network Facebook is gaining a global team of advisors on regional policy, legislation, economics and culture in order to react promptly to the requests of regulators and to promote the company in markets with pronounced specificity, the company said.

Directors of public relations, whose duties will also include communication with users and the press, Facebook is looking for in India, Britain, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Australia and New Zealand, Washington, as well as in the countries of the Middle East East, Scandinavia, Central and Eastern Europe. At the moment, there are 13 similar jobs on the site.

The main functions of specialists will include the development of a strategy for public policy in the region in the region and the recruitment of a team for its implementation, monitoring of the political situation and changes in legislation, negotiations with state and non-profit organizations, and reaction to the requests of market regulators. Priority is given to tracking the protection of personal data, Internet security, intellectual property, etc.

In addition, the specialists will advise the company's management and developers at the head office of Facebook in Palo Alto on local politics, economics and culture, to communicate with local media and audiences.

The main criteria for the applicants of Facebook is the excellent command of both the English language and the language of the proposed region of work, for some positions - at least ten years of experience in the field of political communications, the ability to communicate with politicians and the media, higher education and understanding of regional specifics.

According to the SocialBakers portal, about three-quarters of Facebook users live outside the United States.

"For us, this is the right investment, because we want to build more effective relations with regulators and politicians in Europe and around the world," Facebook representative Debbie Frost told Mercury News.

The crucial moment for Facebook is how governments of different countries legislatively regulate the processes of disclosing personal data on the Internet and ensuring the safety of users. According to Facebook's privacy adviser Ed Palmieri, it's hard to even guess what the expectations of more than 600 million users in this field will be.

The leakage of personal data was one of the biggest incidents of 2010 for the social network Facebook. More than 20 companies through applications for this social network received personal information of its users without their knowledge and transferred them for an additional fee of at least 25 advertising agencies. In addition, according to the company Symantec, in April 2011, nearly 100,000 popular games and applications of the world's largest social network Facebook inadvertently disclosed personal data to third-party users. The social network responded to the claims and introduced a number of functions to protect users and prevent leaks in the future.

The Facebook competitor in the Internet market, Google, created a similar team of regional policy specialists back in 2006. Ex-company employees call the advantage of having such specialists signals about local problems before they turn into global ones. So, the Google Talk service has been finalized for the European market, taking into account more stringent legislation - it has a feature that allows not to keep conversations.

At the same time Google did not escape sanctions because of violation of privacy of personal data - this was accused of services Google Street View and Buzz. For illegal collection of personal data of users for Street View, French state authorities fined Google for 100 thousand euros. Due to claims to Buzz in March of this year, Google signed an agreement with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), under which the corporation undertakes to implement a comprehensive program to protect the privacy of users and to pass regular audits in the field of privacy.
