Swedish and Danish scientists made a remarkable conclusion: people who periodically donate blood can live longer than other people. Moreover, scientists have determined the reason for this.

Research began with what the experts wanted to prove: donor activities do not pose a threat to the health of people who donate blood. However, it was found that donors are thereby extending their lives - but only on condition that they donate blood regularly.

The study was conducted with the participation of citizens of the Scandinavian Peninsula. For a long time scientists have been looking at and assessing their image and features of life. By the end of the experiment it was discovered that Scandinavian long-livers are those citizens who systematically practiced donation. The term "systematically" in this case means that these people have in total surrendered more than 2 liters of blood throughout their life.

What is the reason for this phenomenon, such as the long life of donors?

The whole point is that donor blood donation activates the working capacity of internal organs and systems. This positively affects the influx of "new" blood and leads to a tonus of the whole body.

After the person has donated blood, its renewal accelerates, which immediately affects the strengthening of immune defenses, reducing the risk of developing all sorts of diseases and pathological conditions.

The positive impact of donation can be seen in the skin condition: in people who periodically give blood, the skin is mostly younger and healthy than other people. Thus, donation also rejuvenates the body.

It is important to note one more feature: in the body of an elderly donor, the quality and quantity of blood comes back to normal in about 20-30 days, and in the young donor this process is completely completed in 10-14 days. If the body has an acute deficit of antibodies, then they proceed to intensive division. For these reasons, regular practice of donating is considered very useful.

And a few more arguments in favor of donation:

  • Donors have 90% less sudden cerebral circulatory disorders, and 30% less often have heart attacks.
  • Donors are several dozen times less likely to suffer from myocardial infarction.
  • In "regular" donors, the vascular walls are stronger and denser, the level of free radicals increases in their blood - this can be considered an excellent prevention of oncological pathologies.
  • By giving away the "old" blood, the donor forces his body to produce renewed blood elements. As a result, the liver works easier and better.
  • Donors have a more positive mindset and have good physical well-being. Hence, we can conclude that the donation gives the person a surge of energy and vivacity.

Earlier it was considered that the surrender of blood is a negative stress for the body, which is accompanied by the loss of iron and other necessary substances. However, it turned out that this is not so: donors are less likely to get sick and live longer.
