Almost every fan of fiction is familiar with the novel "The Invisible Man" by H. Wales, where a physicist inventes a machine that turns a person into invisibility. Until quite recently such a story seemed absolutely incredible and the idea of creating such a device looked phantasmagoric. But, as is known, for scientists there is nothing impossible and the recent invention of Singaporean specialists has become one more confirmation of this.

In Nanyang Technological University, a team of specialists developed a unique device that makes invisible small objects and even animals. The scientists plan to improve their development, and now the device works only in a one-dimensional plane. The development team was headed by Zhang Bile, who confessed that he wanted to create something like that in his childhood and after many years he and his colleagues managed to get closer to the "miracle".

Professor Bayle said in his interview that in theory the idea of creating such a device was developed for a very long time, and the realization of the idea took three years and the work is not over yet. To create a miracle device, a team of scientists used the effect of mirrors, which have long been used in their rooms by illusionists and magicians around the world. The scientists explained that the unique invention makes it possible to make half of the object or animal invisible to the eyes, the rest is still visible. Now experts are trying to improve their design in such a way that the most part of the object becomes invisible to the human eye, while they try to go beyond the boundaries of one-dimensional space.

According to scientists, their invention can be used by the military. In the army, using such an "invisibility cap" it will be possible to make soldiers invisible, while scientists are sure that a person can become invisible not only for human eyes, but also for thermal imagers that are often used to identify the enemy among the military.

It is worth noting that the attempt of Singaporean developers to create such a device for invisibility is far from being the first. Several devices have already been created for defense purposes, and the military has long used various methods of optical distortion and metamaterials (non-naturally occurring materials created artificially, and having the effect of invisibility due to refraction).

For example, in Massachusetts, a group of scientists developed a special camouflage cloth for the military. The experts created material from camouflage sheets manufactured using special technology. Stealth technology uses a variety of methods to reduce visibility for combat vehicles (radio-absorbing materials, geometric shapes, etc.), which can significantly increase their survival. A new cloth for camouflage has already been tested in the Third Rifle Battalion in Britain. Camouflage based on stealth technology makes the soldiers completely invisible even when using the latest devices to identify the enemy, such as thermal imagers.
