A team of Israeli experts announced the creation of a unique substance that can withstand the AIDS virus. Development destroys virus-infected cells and is completely safe for normal cells and the body as a whole.
Now a new drug based on a unique substance is still at the stage of laboratory testing and it is too early to say that it will become a revolutionary cure for AIDS in the near future.
During their research, scientists mixed the new substance with the blood of patients who are being treated for AIDS at the Kaplan Medical Center. As a result, observations showed that in a week the cells infected with the virus had practically disappeared, and healthy cells had not suffered at all.
Abraham Loiter, the head of the scientific group that developed the unique substance, noted in his interview that a potential peptide from AIDS contains a special peptide capable of making several copies of the DNA of the disease in the diseased cell, which causes the complete death of the cell. The action of the peptide is directed exclusively at diseased cells and scientists practically exclude the possibility of any detrimental effect on the healthy cells or organism of the patient. Also, according to experts, the relapse of the disease is completely excluded, since diseased cells completely die and are not capable of provoking the development of the disease again.
Another feature of the new drug is its ability to enhance certain vital processes in the patient's body, and this enhances the effectiveness of the drug and increases the likelihood of complete death of sick cells throughout the body.
If in the process of research the drug proves to be as effective as scientists suggest, it will be used to treat AIDS patients. But when the unique drug appears on the pharmaceutical market, Loiter's team is difficult to say, because a number of experiments await them.
By the way, every year the number of new cases of infection with a deadly virus only increases and doctors persistently repeat about the need to observe precaution. The main preventive measures are the use of condoms during sexual intercourse, regular delivery of tests to check their own HIV status.
In Israel, scientists are worried about the AIDS problem in the world. According to some reports, the Ministry of Health intends to launch a program to prevent the development of the human immunodeficiency virus. It is reported that clinics and medical centers will be provided with a drug called Truvada, which will help prevent the development of HIV in patients.
It is worth noting that this drug is already used in some countries (South Africa, France, the United States, etc.) and has already shown its effectiveness. According to the developers, it is necessary to take the drug 3 times a week, which will keep the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus through the body. In Israel, Truvada will be provided to people at risk - sexual partners of people with HIV positive status, drug addicts, and those who for whatever reasons do not use condoms during sexual intercourse.
