The condition of water in reservoirs of Ukraine in the current season is better than in the past. This was reported by the Chairman of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Anatoliy Ponomarenko today, June 20, at a briefing in the Government House.

"This year, the quality of water is significantly better than last year. We have evidence of this: figures, facts, reports, materials," noted Anatoly Ponomarenko.

The condition of water in reservoirs of Ukraine this season is better than last season.

In total, 1,128 beaches and recreational areas should operate in the current health season. They are mainly located in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Odessa, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions. "We are constantly monitoring the water quality. As of June 19, 639 beaches were operating, which is 56.5%. This is 607 on the sea coast and 32 on the river coast," the chief state sanitary doctor specified. According to him, 9 beaches are currently closed in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Odessa, and Mykolaiv regions. However, some Ukrainian beaches have not yet opened, mainly due to the lack of permits. The Sanitary and Epidemiological Service conducts ongoing laboratory monitoring of the quality of sea and river water. Recently, 523 samples have been tested, the vast majority of which are normal.

"Only 0.8% or 4 samples that were examined did not meet the requirements of the standard for microbial contamination. The largest number of non-compliant samples was river water, but this is still only 4% of the samples," clarified Anatoly Ponomarenko. Inf.
