As is known, almost every second inhabitant of the planet is infected with the Herpes virus. If you do not neglect the course of the disease and start treatment in time, the disease quickly passes. Surprisingly, this harmless virus may become a powerful weapon against malignant neoplasms.

Doctors at the British Royal Marsden Hospital have developed a drug to treat cancer. A genetically modified herpes virus was administered to seventeen patients suffering from cancer. Then all the patients underwent chemotherapy. As a result, 16 of them had no cancer cells after surgery.

Combining traditional treatment and herpes virus treatment can achieve amazing results. How does this new drug work? It turns out that cancer is caused by DNA damage, so this drug "removes" the damaged gene, which prevents further spread of the tumor.

Once the drug's developers receive a license, the new drug is expected to become available to patients in the US and Europe later this year.
