All the usual fan, it turns out, can not save anyone in the heat. Unlike air conditioners, fans do not actually cool the air, but bring cold air from the outside, if you place it near the window. And if the temperature outside the window exceeds all norms, the flow of hot air can only increase the temperature of the body.

On the one hand, outwardly people still feel the breeze that comes from the fan. However, when circulating hot air, too intense sweat secretion occurs, and this accelerates the risk of heat stroke.

Intensive sweating can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. If you do not make up for lost fluid fast enough, then the likelihood of the fan doing more harm than good is too high. This issue is especially worrisome for those who have a higher risk of disease, and especially heart disease, writes "Raut".

Elderly people and children are more vulnerable to extreme temperatures, in particular because they are less likely to recognize symptoms of excessive heat exposure.

A new study conducted in the Cochrane Library is of great importance for public health, as more and more people rely on fans, mistakenly believing that they are able to improve their well-being. In the meantime, such mistakes lead to the fact that people, themselves unconscious, intentionally push themselves to heat stroke.
