Smokers who long ago despaired of getting rid of a bad habit, you can try a new way - rinsing the mouth with a sweet lemonade.

According to scientists from the University of Georgia, sugar, which is part of the lemonade, can improve self-control and improve the mindset of the person. Earlier it was believed that glucose is able to give the body a charge of energy, but now, scientists say, the new properties of sugar can help smokers to refrain from smoking, if not forever, then short term exactly.

The results of the research of scientists are published in the periodical scientific journal "Psychological Science".

More than 50 students took part in the study of specialists. Subjects passed tasks to check self-control - each of them performed two tests. In the course of solving problems, one half of the group rinsed the mouth with lemonade with the addition of sugar, and the second with lemonade with artificial sweeteners.

It turned out that the solution of problems was easier for those who consumed natural sugar. They coped with the tests faster and made fewer mistakes.

Scientists explain this by the fact that glucose stimulates the carbohydrate receptors in the language, associated with the areas of the brain responsible for motivation. Signals sent to these centers require the body to pay attention to something important.

The students took 3-5 minutes to complete the tasks. Dr. Leonard Martin, lead author of the study, says that although the test results show that rinsing with lemonade with sugar brings its positive results, in order to give up smoking or lose weight, this may not be enough.

Scientists suggest that glucose can cause emotional enhancement, which forces a person to pay attention to goals and better manifest themselves

"Scientists are used to believe that glucose must be drunk in order to improve self-control and get a charge of energy. However, the results obtained by us suggest that it is only necessary to rinse the mouth with this, "says Dr. Leonard Martin.
