Statistics states: women with the approach of menopause suffer not only from many unpleasant symptoms, but also from the growing indifference to sex.

New research scientists have noted that a similar problem can be eliminated by using a patch with estrogens.
Professor Hugh Taylor (Yale University) is confident that the band-aid is an excellent alternative to oral hormone replacement therapy, which can not only improve a woman's well-being, but also restore libido.
"Our research is aimed at solving an important but very intimate problem for many families. It's no secret that often the quality and desire for sex in middle-aged women comes to naught. Many even consciously wait for this, suggesting that such a decline in sexual desire is inevitable, "explains Professor Gennecoglu at the New York Hospital Lenox Hill Professor Jennifer Wu.

Many gynecologists simply underestimate the power of a plaster with estrogens. Therefore, Professor Taylor also began his research, which involved nearly seven hundred women who entered the menopausal period for the past 2-3 years.
The youngest participant in the experiment was 42 years old, and the oldest was 58 years old.
Participants were divided into three groups: in order to regain lost sexual activity, women, depending on the group, were offered estrogen-based tablets, an estrogen-patch and pacifiers.

The study lasted four years. Prior to the beginning of the experiment and at the end of the experiment, all participants underwent testing, during which they indicated changes in their sexual attraction and activity. Attention was also drawn to the feeling of satisfaction and the presence of unpleasant sensations during or after sexual intercourse.

According to the results of the study, specialists noted that both groups that received estrogen treatment indicated a significant increase in sexual activity and improvement in the quality of sexual relations, which can not be said about the third group, whose participants took "pacifiers".

Indeed, at a time when the level of estrogen in the body falls, its artificial increase significantly improves the quality of life of a woman. However, scientists managed to prove that the effect is not only the introduction of the necessary hormones into the body, but also the way of this introduction. Thus, during the study, women noted that after the application of the patch, dryness in the vagina disappeared, and pain during sexual intercourse was practically not observed.

"Tablet forms of drugs with estrogens had a less pronounced effect - the effect on the libido was not so pronounced. However, it can not be said that the experiment was absolutely "pure": all participants belonged exclusively to the white race, had higher education and a high social level. " Therefore, it is possible to conduct a repeated, more extensive study.

Of course, the conclusions from the results of the experiment are quite controversial in that the treatment with estrogens has at least two aspects: along with the restoration of sexual life, the woman has a risk of developing tumors and a stroke. Therefore, one can not blindly trust research: in each specific case it is necessary to consult a doctor.
