There have been long-standing debates about the benefits of wine in the scientific community, some researchers are sure that this drink has a positive effect on the human body, while others question the conclusions of their colleagues. Wine can both harm human health and bring benefits, but in the UK, a team of specialists has found that only wine made according to an ancient recipe and in moderate doses has benefits.
Wine contains substances from the procyanidin group, which neutralize endothelin-1 (a vasoconstrictor peptide), which has a negative effect on the functioning of the heart and blood vessels.
In a new study, British experts have determined that not all types of wine are equally beneficial.
Wines made according to a medieval recipe, which is still used in France and Italy, can be considered healthy. According to the examination, wine produced in Australia does not contain any useful substances, and in essence, such wine is just an intoxicating drink. Experts are sure that only aged wine has the maximum benefit, since useful substances appear in it during the aging process. According to experts, their work will help in the development of new drugs for vascular and heart diseases.

But not everyone agreed with the conclusions of the British, some experts believe that those wines are useful, the grapes for which are grown on native soil, i.e. domestic wine will bring maximum health benefits. In addition, many wine producers adhere to traditional methods and often use old recipes, so their wines can also compete with wines of Italian and French masters.
Also, according to experts from other countries, not only grape varieties play an important role in the benefits of the final product, each wine contains useful substances that were transferred to the grapes from their native land, so for health it is better to choose wines from domestic producers, and best of all from grapes grown in the native region.
By the way, many are sure that wine in small quantities helps to prolong life. One study found that rozveratrol contained in wine plays a key role in longevity. But this substance, in addition to wine, is also found in chocolate, raspberries, and peanuts. The latest research by American specialists has refuted previous data - as it turned out, rozveratrol does not affect life expectancy.
Scientists from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine studied the health of elderly people in an Italian village. Some participants had high levels of rozveratrol in their blood, while others had less. Over the course of the 9 years of the experiment, 268 of the 783 people died, and the levels of rozveratrol in the blood of all the deceased were completely different.
Based on these data, scientists concluded that roveratrol does not affect life expectancy and that drinking red wine or other products that contain it will not help you live a few years longer, but the substances that are part of red wine help improve well-being and have a beneficial effect on health, of course, if you do not abuse it.
