Scientists have named an element that is definitely worth drinking regularly to improve your health. Interestingly, most people have never even heard of it.

Who would have thought that the ground beneath our feet could be the cause of a variety of health problems, from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, to inflamed glands and cancer. That's what some scientists believe, claiming that low levels of selenium in modern humans are the reason so many diseases develop.

Selenium can protect against all diseases

Selenium is used by the body to create "selenoproteins" which act as antioxidants to prevent cell damage. There is growing evidence that selenium levels play a key role in our health. Last week, scientists at the University of East Anglia found that people who consumed high amounts of the element, along with vitamins C and E, were 67% less likely to develop pancreatic cancer, the deadliest form of cancer.

Previously, science established that high levels of selenium in old age contribute to better brain function. The only problem is that most of us simply don’t have enough selenium. Its richest sources are Brazil nuts, beans, liver, and fish. Selenium is also found in cereals, bread, meat, and poultry.

However, because the level of this element in the soil is insignificant, neither the grass-grazing cows nor the plants have time to get enough selenium to pass it on to people. That is why it is very little in vegetables, meat and grains.

Doctors recommend consuming at least 200 mcg of selenium per day. Food supplements or tablets containing this element are excellent. In addition, do not forget to eat foods rich in selenium:

  • 100 g of Brazil nuts - 245 mcg
  • 100 g of sardines - 38 mcg
  • 100 g of shrimp - 16 mcg
  • 100 g of eggs - 11 mcg
  • 100 g of lean red meat - 10 mcg

Let us recall that in 1983, an international scientific conference was held in Beijing, attended by scientists from Finland, the USA, Germany, Japan, China and other countries. 70% of all reports were devoted to one (!) element - selenium. An important feature of which is:

  • The ability to prolong life.
  • Protect the body from the accumulation of oxidation products.
  • Help improve thinking skills.
  • Has a beneficial effect on the nervous system.
  • Helps to strengthen protection against diseases of civilization: strokes, heart attacks, diabetes, hypertension, bronchial asthma, anemia, decreased immunity, viral diseases - hepatitis, AIDS, oncology, etc.
  • Selenium needs to be taken in such small quantities that a person needs a total of half a teaspoon over a lifetime (as much as a person eats iodine over a lifetime).
  • Selenium is a substance that gives a person longevity, and active longevity at that!
  • Allows a person in modern conditions to always be energetic and think positively.
  • Promotes growth, development and rejuvenation of tissues and the body as a whole.
  • Selenium is called the “general of metabolic processes” of the body (because it helps to absorb iodine, zinc and other microelements).
