Many people of different ages face back pain. It can be sharp, aching, temporary and chronic. This problem has managed to acquire a considerable number of myths. Let's figure out what can be believed and what is just fiction.
Myth #1: You should always sit up straight
If you constantly slouch and sit at the table crookedly, your back will not be delighted, but will pay you back with pain and spasms. The same extreme is sitting for a long time with a straight back. This position only increases the load on the back. Therefore, if you have to sit for a long time, try to change your body position and get up from the chair more often to stretch your muscles.
Myth #2: You can't lift heavy objects
It's not how many kilograms you lift that matters, but how you do it. Of course, you shouldn't lift something that you can't lift. Just when you're going to pick up a heavy load, squat down and hold the object with a straight back. Use only your legs to lift it, don't put all the weight on your back.
Myth #2: Bed rest is the best medicine
Rest is certainly helpful, especially if you are in severe pain. But lying in bed will not help relieve the pain or strengthen your back muscles, it will only make the problem worse.
Myth #3: Being thin will save you from back problems
This is not true. Thin people, especially those with anorexia, may experience back pain due to bone loss, which can lead to fractures or crushed vertebrae.
Fact #1: Chiropractic for Back Pain
Chiropractic is an alternative treatment method that is used with traditional therapy. The goal of this treatment method is to prevent injury, restore function, and relieve back pain.
Fact #2: Acupuncture can relieve pain
Patients who do not get relief with traditional methods can try acupuncture sessions. According to research by American scientists, alternative treatments such as yoga, progressive relaxation and, of course, acupuncture, can have a positive effect on relieving and alleviating back pain.
Fact #3: The more weight, the more serious the problem
Unfortunately, it is a proven fact that obesity and overweight problems negatively affect the health of the back, causing pain. This is due to the degeneration of the intervertebral discs in the lumbar region.
