American and Italian scientists, by conducting a large-scale study, found that a change in the diet in the direction of plant foods can contribute to an extension of life by about 30%. It is especially important for this to regularly eat vegetables and fruits.

Before reaching this conclusion, experts for several years (namely, 12) monitored more than 800 volunteers over the age of 65. In particular, the study involved long-livers living in Tuscany.

Volunteers who took part in the experiment were offered to include in the diet various amounts of various fruits and vegetables, combined with a healthy lifestyle.

In the final of the experiment, the researchers summed up and found that those people who regularly took in food few vegetable products (less than 150 grams) lived 30% less than those people whose fruits accounted for at least more than a third of the daily diet.

It is assumed that this effect of prolonging life is associated with the presence in plant food of polyphenols - natural natural antioxidants belonging to a group of plant pigments.

Polyphenolic compounds provide reliable protection for cells from the effects of carcinogenic and toxic substances, thereby inhibiting the development of cancerous tumors and chronic intoxications. In addition, polyphenols are able to slow the aging process in the body.

The mentioned natural compounds are present in sufficient quantity in grapes, berries, pomegranates, nuts, apples, in greenery and beans, in vegetables. In a variety of plant foods scientists have been allocated more than eight thousand different polyphenols. It is their presence due to many characteristics of plant products: color, bitter or tart taste and aroma.

Regular use of different variations of fruits and vegetables contributes to the restoration of liver tissue, and also brings other positive changes:

  • creates favorable conditions for maintaining the elasticity and elasticity of the skin;
  • creates protection against the damaging effects of ultraviolet radiation;
  • accelerates the excretion of harmful free radicals from the body;
  • promotes the maintenance of health of brain structures (in particular, it serves as the prevention of senile dementia);
  • helps regulate blood glucose and normalize blood pressure;
  • maintains a normal intestinal microflora;
  • promotes tissue healing, improves blood circulation and improves heart function.

Polyphenolic compounds have long been of interest to world scientists in terms of their undeniable benefits to the human body. Prolonging life and maintaining a stable normal state of health is the goal set by many scientific experts.

Therefore, it makes sense to eat vegetable food, every day and in sufficient quantities: in addition to the fact that you get a taste of pleasure, thanks to polyphenolic compounds, you will strengthen and rejuvenate your body.
